Description
From my farm I cultivated variety of crops. It is the proceeds I use primarily to feed my family and sell the excesses to sponsor my children to school. I have done this business since I started living here. My only challenge has been the incessant crude oil spills that have continued to truncate my efforts. crude oil has also polluted these plantains again and destroyed them.
These spills sometimes result to fire outbreak that threatens to engulf our houses. Presently I have up to thirty suckers of plantain that the spill destroyed and soon it would impact the rest of the farm if nothing is done. I don’t know what to do again because as a stranger this is the only area I have secured for farming I am not buoyant enough to afford other places. Even if I tried to complain about the crude oil spill people from the community ignore me because am not from the here their attitude even cause the companies representative to also ignore me. Because of that I don’t even benefit from the little money that comes to the community as a result of crude oil spill. When my farm is polluted I borrow money to feed my children and start all over again because I need to survive ,even right now I am yet to finish paying the money I borrowed because the previous spills destroyed my yields. I will be happy if you pass this information to both the company (Shell) and the world.
